This company tried to take advantage of a vulnerable person in their 80s. They were called out to repair a broken flush valve and tried to replace the whole toilet claiming that there is no way a part could be sourced. I got a new plumber out for a second opinion and he had the part replaced in under 20 minutes. If I had not happened to call my mum when the plumber was there the toilet would have been replaced as my mum just took the plumbers word for it. When I spoke with the plumber he claimed fault was with the ball valve - not true although my mum could have given that impression when she spoke with someone on the phone - she has no understanding of the workings of a toilet which would be evident to all when speaking to her. On speaking to the office they continued to back up the plumbers story which was hugely disappointing even when I explained how the fault happened. When I persisted with my argument they back tracked and claimed they couldn't source the part that evening so if we wanted it fixed that day the only option was a new toilet. It was after 5pm so I accept that places for sourcing parts would be closed and had that been explained we would have been more than happy to wait until the morning. However the plumber had insisted to me that the part could not be sourced anywhere because the toilet was old. When calling the office again, after we had the toilet repaired, to make an official complaint I got the same story of support for the plumber's behaviour. They tried to lay the guilt card on me that I could be destroying someone's livelihood if he was to get sacked. I am only relaying the truth as I see it, maybe the plumber should have considered the consequence before he took the actions he did - my main concern is to ensure other vulnerable people are not ripped off in the way my mum nearly was.
