Neil designed a new kitchen, utility, cloakroom and office for us. I would highly recommend Neil and his team. His designs were perfect for us. Neil designs things you do not even know you need. I have been using the kitchen for four months now and would not change anything about the kitchen. He also used an exceptional fitter, Dan who brought the amazing design to life, his fitting is absolutely perfect. Along with Ben the electrician who finished the kitchen with perfect lighting and electrics. We are so happy with all the work that has been done for us by Against the Grain and would recommend them.

We initially contacted Neil (Against the grain) in April 2021 for designing our new kitchen. Among all the local suppliers, he was the only one who instantly offered to visit our place to take measurements and then discuss our requirements at our home. He came at the exact time promised and spent a good chunk of time understanding us and our lifestyle and our requirements for the kitchen. Ours was slightly more complex as we were moving the kitchen to an adjacent room and we wanted the plumbing works to be least intrusive and the electric works to also be planned well. We also wanted the existing kitchen space to be redesigned as a new spare / guest room. Neil provided us with his design ideas within a week to 10 days of meeting us and he got it bang on at the first attempt. He took in a whole lot of information and converted it into a design that immediately worked for us. We had some minor change requests which he seamlessly integrated into his design. He then further arranged for us to visit the kitchen counter top showrooms for us to pick our counter. He also worked with us in helping select / ordering the sink / taps and other accessories. He kept us up to date with the order progress and started our project on time. There were a couple of minor hiccups procuring the counter tops - but he stayed on top and kept us abreast. His team that worked on site was fantastic and did a thorough job with least intrusion. Neil also ensure that our old kitchen could stay functional till very late. The kitchen was completed more or less on time and was absolutely fantastic - exactly to design - & met our requirements to the tee. Now, months after the kitchen was completed, we continue to enjoy cooking in our new space and are absolutely delighted to have gone with Against the Grain / Neil. Neil also worked with us to redesign the old kitchen space into a new spare room and delivered on the design as well as on the fit. Dan from his team worked on the spare room build and there is nothing we can say that does justice to his absolute brilliant work. Neil also designed and delivered a bespoke wardrobe in another room to very specific requirements. He came up with excellent ideas to our requirement and also sourced and delivered the right product. We also came to know Neil as a person during this time and we have had several interesting conversations with him. He is an absolute delight to do business with - we highly recommend Neil and Against the grain.

Exceptional from beginning to end. I went to see Neil as a frame of reference for when I went to see the big store designers. Not only was he the nicest, most helpful and genuine person, but there was not one thing that was seen as a 'fudge' or a 'oh we can't fit that in there' as there was with all the main stores. I felt everywhere else I went I was being asked to compromise and decide on what to sacrifice and what to keep. Neil was able to give me exactly what I asked for without any issues at all. He came up with a beautiful, functional design and Dan and Ben came to visit the kitchen before I got a quote. So the guys actually doing the work got to see the place and quote realistically rather than an in store designer quoting on behalf of an installer. It really worried me that with any other company I went to the installers wouldn't see the peculiarities of my building until the day they turned up to start working so it was really reassuring to have them visit beforehand to plan what they needed to do and how they could do it. Throughout the whole process I was consulted to confirm exactly what I wanted. I felt like I was their only customer and the service was outstanding. They put up with all my silly questions and the fact my kitchen was an odd shape/ size and totally random. They were the only ones to offer to fully re do the kitchen. Rather than removing the old kitchen and sticking the new one in around the poor building work that was already there, they made everything right. Not one part of the job was skimped on. I would recommend them in a heartbeat, there was not one thing that I wasn't happy with.

Neil designed and project managed our new kitchen and utility room. From the offset he was reliable, friendly and patient - nothing was too much. Neil was happy to listen to us and adjust things to our requirements (and patiently adjust them back too). Our kitchen was completed in October 2018. We are really happy with it, have had no problems and lots of very positive feedback from friends.

We had Neil design us a kitchen a couple of years ago. We paid for the initial drawings which were well worth the fee. We went along with just the diameters of our space and a rough idea of what we wanted. By the time Neil has finished his design asking us a few straightforward questions as to our likes and dislikes and priorities for a kitchen we had a kitchen we could never have believed would have looked so fantastic. Our design included walls being knocked down and planning applications being made this was all made totally straightforward as it is all kept in house and every step is made with ease. Dan and his team who fitted the kitchen were great totally professional and kept us updated with all that was happening day to day. This is the second kitchen we have ever had fitted the first one many years ago was a total nightmare and probably made us hesitate for quite a while into going through the turmoil again .But with Neil, Dan and the team we were delighted the results are amazing and the whole process carried out easily with no issues whatsoever. We really cannot recommend Against the Grain highly enough
