KEEPING THE WAY CLEAR AND SAFE

BEAR Scotland is responsible for managing and maintaining some of the country’s most important roads.

We look after over 2,500km of trunk road and over 2,750 structures and bridges, making sure the carriageways are safe and sound. We also take care of grass cutting and weed control, road lighting and traffic signal maintenance, street drains and road signs, and, in the winter, carry out snow ploughing and salt spreading with our fleet of over 100 winter gritters.

Safety is at the heart of everything we do and guides every aspect of our work. We carry out regular structural inspections of roads and bridges, empty gullies and repair safety barriers.  We also help coordinate network access for roadworks in the north east, north west and south east of Scotland.

Our teams always work hard to create a sustainable, environmentally friendly infrastructure for the future. We work to ensure we carry out our operations in harmony with the environment and always look at ways we can protect and often enhance the habitat near our roads.

We have over 800 employees spread across Scotland over 22 depots and offices, and we work round the clock to keep our network moving, whatever the weather.
