Edmund Chapman4 StarVery good experience having Mark do a building survey. Excellent comms via email arranging the survey, responses were always quick. I requested quotes from eight surveyors in the area and Mark’s rate for a building survey was very competitive. As Mark was booked up it was about a month before he could do the survey.
The evening after the survey Mark gave me a call to discuss what he had seen and the one notable issue he found, which was something I hadn’t considered. It was then nine days (including a weekend) before I received the report, which was a bit longer than I had expected.
The report is excellent. Very detailed, with pictures clearly highlighting any issues, including in awkward locations up on the roof. Covers plenty of technical points, but in plain, readable language. As a first time home buyer I also really appreciate the guidance Mark provided at the back with some pages of general advice on good building maintenance.
Overall a quality house survey at a good price, and from someone local. If in the future I buy another house in the area, Elliott Consultants Ltd will be my first call for a building survey. After having Mark find a notable issue I wouldn’t have noticed I have definitely learned the lesson of the value of a thorough building survey.
I would have liked a valuation too, but while the company website says they do valuations, when I asked that wasn’t currently available. Also, I think it could be clearer in the terms and conditions that the survey will meet the RICS building survey standard, as an objective professional standard for the work.Tuesday 15th December 2020

I received excellent service and found them to be extremely patient, informative and understanding while also delivering an excellent service on the actual survey required.
