We are Historic Building Surveyors and a specialist Heritage and Listed Building Consultancy, with offices in Shropshire, Teeside, Yorkshire, and London. 

Heritage House is a long established brand, started when Pete Ward began his battle to discredit the damp industry, and teach the world about old houses. These days, there is greater understanding of dampness problems - universal acceptance of breathability, and the use of traditional materials like lime, and timber. 

We are a partnership of enlightened, dedicated, and qualified Surveyors and Project Managers, who understand old buildings and can help with every stage of your purchase or restoration project.. We are the leading experts in timber frame work in the country. We are RICS and CIOB Members. Our surveys are all conducted to the requirements of BS 7913: Guide to Conservation of Historic Buildings.

The crew have a huge breadth of experience, from working on Kensington Palace, to restoring a little two roomed cottage in the Dales.  We have a Conservation Officer in our team. We focus our skill sets on practical application.  It's no use being an academic, or highly qualified if you can't re-build an old house and understand the materials it is built with!

Our team live and work all over the country, including Shropshire, Herefordshire, Wales, Lancashire, Oxfordshire, London and the south east, Northumberland, Hertfordshire and Devon. 

We survey Listed Buildings, Pre-Purchase Surveys, Building Surveys, Timber Framed buildings, and Independent Timber and Damp Surveys. The team prepare Heritage Statements, Listed Building Consent applications, Restoration specifications. We can manage your Project. We undertake expert witness and legal work on issues ranging from dampness and disrepair, to negligent surveys, and Listed Building problems.

If your house is Grade 2 Listed we also provide consultancy services to help you understand what you can and cannot do. Living in a Grade 2 Listed building should be a pleasure - you don't need permission for repairs and maintenance. We also work with Grade 1 Listed buildings, and Grade 2* Listed Buildings.

DO NOT USE!!!! Got peter in to inspect my property and give a diagnosis on my damp issues peter recommended i install ventilation heat exchange units and recommended i get lime plastering done by his mate on most walls and the vault of my ground floor terrace house the inspection was quick but very expensive but wouldnt mind if it actually worked fast forward 2 years later and im still waiting for it to dry so i can paint it and sell my property I keep getting told by peter to wait but its ridiculous and its actually getting worse ive spent nearly £15k on his recommended treatments which is useless hes now not answering calls or emails having now looked at the wording of the guarantee i got its not worth the paper its on, my solicitor says it would cost thousands to chase him though the courts and with no guarantee of winning picture below is of the vault they done which is still soaking and unusable as everything goes mouldy He is a an absolute SCAMMER! do not trust this snake
