Helen Fruin1 StarSadly, price quoted for materials was not clarified by Ian (we bought the bulk .. shower cubicle,toilet, trims etc.. as specified by Ian) . Ian refused later to explain £740 charge for plumber materials for replacing shower unit and toilet in same places/no further work etc.
But actually it wasn’t completed .. Ian left our house on last day without telling us .. leaving a long ( 5ft) unsightly tiling gap by side of shower ..his colleague who was left to tidy, advised us to fix it ourselves with a plastic architrave or take it up with Ian .. I had to email Ian with photo to ask him to complete .. we then had a leak from toilet fitted coming through our kitchen ceiling .. we disputed the £740 of unspecified materials .. Ian said he would send a breakdown over that night but then refused .. If additional costs for unexpected Items or work had been needed before or during the installation, we could have understood this.
We said we could not pay until incomplete work / leak and lack of break down of figures were supplied .. Ian became very angry repeatedly texting, calling and emailing demanding money and threatening us with court two days saying we had not contacted him ( calls, texts and emails each day say otherwise). Due to the acrimony we paid full labour costs of £1000.. we also offered to pay half of unspecified £740 but he was so angry and unprofessional he refused so he lost out £370 we offered . We lost out by having to repair urgently the shower leak /work he left us .. sad all round ..Tuesday 1st September 2020
