About Us

Metro Rod (Isle of Wight) is run by franchisee owner, and local engineer, Adam Collier. Adam and his family have spent much of their history on the island, dating back over 70 years and many generations. Nowadays, they are based in beautiful seaport town of Cowes and provide drainage services across the island.

As a Chartered Mechanical Engineer, Adam’s experience spans over 15 years starting his career in the motorsport and aerospace industries. He went on to spend 5 years working as a boat engineer and skipper with a short spell at Wight Shipyard in East Cowes. During his time here he was a mechanical design engineer on two of the Thames Clipper Ferries and also on the Redjet 7, which is the high speed catamaran ferry operating on the Southampton to Cowes route. Adam then opened up Metro Rod Isle of Wight in 2019.

At Metro Rod Isle of Wight, we understand the importance of excellent customer service. We take care of our customers from initial contact all the way through to resolution of their drainage problem and continued support to prevent further disruption caused by a lack of drain maintenance. Each of our engineers are fully DBS checked and partake in regular, in-depth training to ensure they’re qualified to the highest industry standards.

As a business, we are committed to investing in the latest industry technology and reporting tools to ensure a safe and professional service to all our customers. This investment also allows us to provide you with transparent reporting capabilities and a full view of all work undertaken to discover areas where costs are regularly incurred from reoccurring problems and recommend intelligent pre-pre-planned maintenance solutions to reduce future disruption from drainage problems.

Metro Rod Isle of Wight in the Community

At Metro Rod, we believe in supporting our local island community and have been involved in many projects.

Prescription delivery

During the pandemic we provided a delivery service for elderly and vulnerable people on the island. Allowing them to stay in isolation and away from harm. The money we raised from this was then used to purchase food for the Foodbank.

NHS drain unblocking 

We provided our NHS heros with free drain unblocking services during the pandemic. It might not sound like much but being able to take some of the stress and hassle away from our nurses and doctors was something we were really passionate about.

John Cattle’s Skate Club

We were recently able to give back to the community through providing John and the skate club with funding to purchase new safety equipment. Engineer safety is a top priority for us at Metro Rod, so it was a natural fit and one we’re proud to be part of.

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A DRAINAGE SPECIALIST ON THE ISLE OF WIGHT LOOK NO FURTHER. Adam from Metro Rod visited a few days ago and solved our drainage problem. Adam is super skilled, he managed to recover a broken plunger that a previous drain cleaning company had broken and left in the pipe under my drive way where it was gathering waste and blocking the pipe. Adam also gave me lots of tips and suggestions to help prevent further blockages as well as showing me what to look out for in the future. METRO ROD are also very fairly priced, I would call them again without a shadow of a doubt. Great Service. Thank You

Adam arrived on the date agreed, and quickly identified the issue with my external drain. He cleared it quickly and efficiently, and was very pleasant to deal with. His charges are very reasonable, and I would not hesitate to recommend him.

We had a problem with our domestic sewage treatment system. I called Adam who made a visit that day to investigate. Replacement parts were ordered that day and fitted a few days later when they arrived. Top quality service. Friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this company. Prompt, excellent and very clean service from Adam,MD of Metro Rod (Isle of Wight), who ,with his vast knowledge and CCTV camera and other equipment,identified a broken pipe in a drain and has arranged for us to have this fixed without delay.Adam has a really approachable manner and explained everything so carefully. We were sent CCTV images via the internet which are fascinating. Thank you also to his very kind and helpful partner Sarah, who made this visit possible .
