A surveyor completed a Home Buyer's Report for a property that I was purchasing. At first, I was pleased with the report and the information it gave about my prospective property. Upon moving in, I found that I had a domestic pumping station on my land that collected the property's sewage water. This was not at all mentioned on the report. Upon enquiring why this was the case, I was told that the pumping station was inspected but was not included in the report as it was deemed to be functional (despite it not being tested). This contradicts the advice of my solicitor and of other surveyors who, when contacted, suggested that such a finding should be on the final report. When taking this further, the senior surveyor, Mr Waterfield, dismissed my concerns and hung up the phone when asked for the complaints procedure.
