Before you make a commitment to purchase a property you should have it inspected by a Chartered Surveyor; it’s a ‘no brainer’ to use the modern terminology. The Party Wall Act covers 3 distinct areas of work; changes to an existing party structure, the construction of new walls either astride or up to the boundary and excavation within 3 metres of an adjoining structure. Before undertaking any work that is covered by the Act there is a requirement to serve a party wall notice. If that notice is not consented to, party wall surveyors must be appointed and an ‘Award’ produced.

On the roads, the A12 and A13 trunk roads have been upgraded and have made road travel throughout the district flow more easily.
