How Do You Fit the New Guttering?
When replacing a Finlock/concrete gutter, the first thing we do is install our easy-dec system, which provides access to the roof over almost anything, including conservatories and porches. We then cut off the concrete in sections using a diamond cutter, but leave the lintel in.
Once the old guttering has been removed, the new uPVC guttering is cut and placed a few centimetres from the brickwork to avoid any damage.
How Long Does it Take to Clear the Damp?
Once weâve installed a uPVC guttering system it takes around 6 â 7 weeks for any damp to clear up. Our gutters use an EP system that goes under the tiles and into the guttering at a slight angle, which lets air in to keep the cavity dry.
The fascia and soffits we fit are all breathable, and we donât use sealants, which provides enough ventilation to allow the damp to dry out and stay dry. We also use ridged soffits to let air in, and the uPVC gutters are set with an inch drop from one side to the other, preventing future water build-up.
